(1)This Act may be called the Bombay Irrigation Act, 1879.(2)Local extent. - It extends to the [Bombay area of the State of Gujarat] [These words were substituted for the words 'Pre-Reorganisation State of Bombay excluding the transferred territories and the City of Bombay' by Gujarat Adaptation of Laws (State and Concurrent Subjects) Order, 1960.]:[Provided that on and from the commencement of the Bombay Irrigation (Gujarat Extension and Amendment) Act, 1961 (Gujarat 1 of 1962), this Act shall extend to the whole of the State of Gujarat.] [This proviso was added by Gujarat 1 of 1962, section 2 (w.e.f. 10-12-1962).]
