Section 8 in The Punjab Ayurvedic and Unani Practitioners Act, 1963

8. Disabilities for continuing as member.

- If, in the opinion of the Board, any member of the Board absents himself without sufficient cause from three consecutive ordinary meetings of the Board or becomes subject to any of the disqualifications specified in section 9, the Board shall declare his office to be vacant :Provided that before declaring his office to be vacant, the Board shall call for his explanation and record its decision thereon.[8A. Power to remove member. - The State Government may, by notification, remove any member who, in its opinion, has been guilty of misconduct in the discharge of his duties:Provided that before the State Government notifies the removal of any member the reasons for his proposed removal shall be communicated to him and he shall be given an opportunity of tendering an explanation in writing.] [[Section 8-A added by Punjab Act 5 of 1968. Section 4 of this Act reads as under :-'4. Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act,
(a)anything done or any action taken or purporting to have been done or taken by the Registrar or any other authority or by the State Government during the period commencing from the fourth of February, 1966, and ending on the date of commencement of this Act, under the provisions of the principal Act or the rules framed thereunder, including the registration of persons under section 15, shall be deemed to be as valid as it would have been if a duly constituted Board had been in existence during the aforesaid period; and
(b)any appeal under section 18 which could be filed during the period referred to in clause (a) may be filed within a period of sixty days of the commencement of this Act, excluding the time spent in obtaining a copy of the order appealed against.']]
