Section 1 in The West Bengal Lifts And Escalators Act, 1955
1. Short title, extent, commencement and application.
(1)This Act may be called the West Bengal Lifts and Escalators Act, 1955.(2)It extends to the whole of West Bengal.(3)It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.(4)Nothing in this Act shall apply to any lift or escalator in any mine within the meaning of the Mines Act, 1952, or to any lift or escalator to which the provisions of the Factories Act, 1948, apply.
