Section 175(1) in The Maharashtra Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats And Industrial Townships Act, 1965
(1)Where a Council considers that in any street not being a public street, or in any part thereof, within the municipal area, it is necessary for the public health, convenience or safety that any work should be done for the levelling, paving, metalling, flagging, channelling, draining, lighting or cleaning thereof, the Council may by written notice require the respective owners of the lands or buildings fronting, adjoining, or abutting upon such street or part thereof, to carry out such work in a manner and within a time to be specified in such notice.
