Section 24 in Industrial Disputes (Central) Rules, 1957

24. Power of Boards, Courts, Labour Courts, Tribunals and National Tribunals.

- In addition to the powers conferred by the Act, Boards, Courts, Labour Courts, Tribunals and National Tribunals shall have the same powers as are vested in a Civil Court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (5 of 1908), when trying a suit, in respect of the following matters, namely:-
(a)discovery and inspection;
(b)granting adjournment;
(c)reception of evidence taken on affidavit;
and the Board, Court, Labour Court, Tribunal or National Tribunal may summon and examine any person whose evidence appears to it to be material and shall be deemed to be a Civil Court within the meaning of sections 480 and 482 of the [Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (5 of 1898)] [Now see the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (2 of 1974). ].
