171. Power to supply water for non domestic purposes.
(1)The Commissioner may supply water for any purpose other than a domestic purpose on such terms and conditions consistent with this Act and the bye-laws made thereunder as may be laid down in this behalf by the Corporation in receiving a written application specifying the purpose for which the supply is required and the quantity likely to be consumed.Provided that for building purposes, water supply shall be made for a period of one year in the first instance, on an application accompanied by a copy of a building plan duty sanctioned by a competent authority and thereafter be extended, by six months at a time for a period of not exceeding the period allowed for the completion of the construction or for three years whichever is less :Provided further that the water supply made, for the building purposes, on or before the commencement of this Act, shall continue for a period of three years reckoned from such commencement.(2)The Commissioner may withdraw such supply at any time if it should appear necessary to do so in order to maintain a sufficient supply of water for domestic purpose.
