Section 920(a) in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943
(a)Service books shall be kept in Bengal Form No. 912 and B.P. Form No. 179 should be attached thereto for all subordinate police officers of and above the rank of Sub-Inspector. The service book shall be purchased from the local treasury at three annas a copy, the cost being realized from the officer for whom the book is supplied.
