Section 14A(ii) in The Gauhati University Act, 1947
(ii)to submit to the Executive Council draft Regulations regarding method and manner of conducting examinations including setting up of Modernation Boards and to award in accordance with such Regulations, Fellowships, Scholarships, Exhibitions, Medals and other rewards :
