(1)The Central Government may, by notification, declare that all or any of the provisions, under this Act or the rules made thereunder-(a)other than that provided for safety, manning and prevention of pollution, shall not apply to any specified class or category of the mechanically propelled inland vessels; or(b)shall apply to any specified class or category of the mechanically propelled inland vessels with such modifications, as may be specified in the notification.
