135. [ [Monthly] [Section 135 was substituted for the original by Bombay 2 of 1938, Section 7.] scrutiny of accounts by municipal chief auditor and scrutiny of account by the [Standing Committee] [These words were substituted for the words 'Municipal Accounts Committee' by Maharashtra 27 of 1999, Section 73(e), (w.e.f. 23-4-1999).].
- [(1) The Municipal Chief Auditor shall conduct a monthly examination and audit of the municipal accounts and shall report thereon to the Standing Committee who shall publish, monthly, an abstract of the receipts and expenditure of the month last preceding, signed by not less than two members of the said Committee and by the Municipal Chief Auditor. The Standing Committee may also from time to time and for such period as they thinks fit conduct independently an examination and audit of the Municipal Accounts.] [Sub-section (1) was substituted by Maharashtra 27 of 1999, Section 73(a), (w.e.f. 23-4-1999).](2)For these purposes [the Standing Committee] [These words were substituted for the words 'the Municipal Accounts Committee' by Maharashtra 27 of 1999, Section 73(b)(i), (w.e.f. 23-4-1999).] and the municipal chief auditor shall have access to all the municipal accounts and to all records and correspondence relating thereto, and [the Commissioner] [These words were substituted for the words 'the Member-in-charge' by Maharashtra 27 of 1999, Section 73(b)(ii), (w.e.f. 23-4-1999).] shall forthwith furnish to [the Standing Committee] [These words were substituted for the words 'the Municipal Accounts Committee' by Maharashtra 27 of 1999, Section 73(b)(i), (w.e.f. 23-4-1999).] or the municipal chief auditor any explanation concerning receipts and disbursements which they may call for.]
