Section 8(4)(a) in All India Services (Death-Cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958

(a)[ A member of the Service who, prior to his appointment to the Service, held a post in the General Administrative Reserve or a post under Government on a contract basis, shall have the option to count the period of his service in such post in full as qualifying for pension under these Rules.
