Section 73 in The Navy (Pension) Regulations, 1964

73. Sailors invalided on account of indulgence in drugs or drink.

- A sailor invalided in consequence of any disorder (including insanity) resulting from indulgence in drugs or drink shall, unless such indulgence was for reasons beyond his control, be ineligible for pension irrespective of length of service, but may in the circumstances of the case to be considered by the competent authority, be granted-
(i)if he has rendered sufficient qualifying service to earn a service pension, the whole or part of the gratuity admissible under regulation 89.
(ii)if he has rendered sufficient qualifying service to earn a service gratuity only, the whole or part of the gratuity normally admissible according to the length of qualifying service under regulation 89.
