Section 316(1) in The West Bengal Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989
(1)In [Kolkata] [Substituted vide section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (West Bengal Act 18 of 2001) (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for the word 'Calcutta'.] (including suburbs), in addition to complying with the provisions of the Schedule to the Act and any rule made under sections 62 and 62A of the [Kolkata] [Substituted vide section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (West Bengal Act 18 of 2001) (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for the word 'Calcutta'.] Police Act, 1866, and section 37 of the [Kolkata] [Substituted vide section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (West Bengal Act 18 of 2001) (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for the word 'Calcutta'.] Suburban Police Act, 1886, drivers shall keep as much to the left of the road as is consistent with the safety and convenience of the other users of the same.
