Section 16 in West Bengal Town and Country (Planning and Development) Act, 1979
16. [Kolkata] [Substituted by Section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (West Bengal Act No. 18 of 2001) (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for "Calcutta"] Metropolitan Area.
(1)Notwithstanding the repeal of the [Kolkata] [Substituted by Section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (West Bengal Act No. 18 of 2001) (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for "Calcutta"] Metropolitan Planning Area (Use and Development of Land) Control Act, 1965 (West Bengal Act No. 14 of 1965), by section 142 of this Act, the controlled area declared under that Act with such modifications as mentioned in the First Schedule to this Act shall be known as the [Kolkata] [Substituted by Section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (West Bengal Act No. 18 of 2001) (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for "Calcutta"] Metropolitan Planning Area for the purposes of this Act.(2)The State Government may, if it thinks fit, by notification, enlarge, curtail or modify the [Kolkata] [Substituted by Section 5 of the West Bengal Capital City (Change of Name) Act, 2001 (West Bengal Act No. 18 of 2001) (w.r.e.f. 1.1.2001) for "Calcutta"] Metropolitan Planning Area or any part thereof.
