40. Procedure on arrest by chaukidars. - Whenever the chaukidar may arrest any person, such chaukidar shall forthwith take the person so arrested to the police-station within the limits of which such village is situate.
Provided that, if the arrest is made at night such person shall be so taken as soon as convenient on the following morning.
