Section 35(1) in The Gujarat Municipalities Act, 1963
(1)A president may resign his office by tendering his resignation in writing to the Collector. Such resignation shall take effect from the date on which it is accepted by the Collector or on the expiry of thirty days from the date of tendering the resignation, whichever event occurs earlier.
