Need To Resume Work On The Tindivanam-Thiruvannamalai And Tindivanam-Nagari ... on 9 March, 2016

Sixteenth Loksabha an> Title: Need to resume work on the Tindivanam-Thiruvannamalai and Tindivanam-Nagari railway lines in Tamil Nadu.

SHRI V. ELUMALAI (ARANI): Railways have shelved projects worth Rs.19,500 crore which are lagging behind and will affect as many as 14 projects in Tamil Nadu.  The list includes projects that have seen not much progress since their announcement.  Tindivanam-Tiruvannamalali and Tindivannam-Nagari railway projects were announced in 2008-09 and 2006-07 respectively.  Tindivanam-Tiruvannamalali railway line project completed 6 percent and Tindivannam- Nagari railway line project completed 10 percent of work.  These projects have been shelved citing that return on investment as Minus 11 and Minus 5 respectively.  These are all people oriented projects and the economic criteria should not come in between.  These railway line projects, if implemented, will help boost all- around development of these backward areas of the State.  I urge upon the Government to resume work on these two railway line projects at the earliest.
