89. Penalty for acquisition by lease or possessory mortgage in excess of the ceiling area.
- If any person, on or after the notified date, voluntarily acquires by lease or possessory mortgage any land which together with the land, if any, already held by him exceeds in the aggregate the ceiling area, he shall be punishable with fine not exceeding [two thousand rupees] [Substituted for the words 'one thousand rupees' by section 2(b) of the Tamil Nadu Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Second Amendment Act, 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 1988).].
