1. A short reply has been filed by the Joint Secretary, Department of Local Government, Government of Punjab, on behalf of Respondent Nos. 3 & 4 placing on record inter alia a notification dated 18th August, 2020 postponing the field work of Phase-I of Census, 2021. It has been clearly stated therein in para 2 as under:

"All the pending proposals, if any, affecting changes in the existing boundaries of towns, revenue villages, tehsils, Community Development Blocks and districts may, therefore, be finalized on or before 31st December, 2020 under intimation to the Director, Census Operations, Punjab, Chandigarh. The boundaries of administrative unities for the ensuing Census will now be frozen from 31st December, 2020 to till completion of Census."

2. In that view of the matter, the Court is not inclined at this stage to entertain the present petition. It will, however, be open to the Petitioner, if so advised, to challenge the notification dated 18th August, 2020 in accordance with law.

3. The petition is disposed of in the above terms.
