(1)It shall be the duty of every officer of a jail at all times to do all lawful acts which may be necessary, and to exercise the utmost vigilance, for the purpose of preventing any prisoner from breaking out of jail or escaping or attempting to break out of jail or escape, or from creating or attempting to create any disturbance or riot or from doing or attempting to do any other violent or disorderly act.
