Section 138(e) in Police Regulations, Calcutta, 1968
(e)An unexecuted warrant for the arrest of a witness in Form No. VII, Schedule V of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (Act V of 1898), shall be returned to the Magistrate on the date fixed therein, so that he may take any further steps he may think advisable.
