- Any person may, with the consent of the Canal Officer, acquire the ownership of an existing village channel for the purpose of improving or maintaining it -(a)by taking over any village channel belonging to the Government;(b)by transfer of ownership of village channel from the owner thereof by private agreement.Explanation. - "Person" in this chapter includes any number of persons acting jointly and also Water Users Association.
