Section 24 in West Bengal Industrial Disputes Rules, 1958

24. Power of Boards, Courts, Labour Courts and Tribunals.

- In addition to the powers conferred by the Act, Boards, Courts, Labour Courts and Tribunals shall have the same powers as are vested in a Civil Court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, when trying a suit in respect of the following matters namely :
(a)discovery and inspection ;
(b)granting adjournments ;
(c)reception of evidence taken on affidavit ;
(d)framing of additional or subsidiary issues ;
(e)addition of parties ;
and the Board, Court, Labour Court or Tribunal may summon and examine any person whose evidence appears to it to be material and shall be deemed to be a Civil Court within the meaning of sections 480 and 482 of the Code of the Criminal Procedure, 1898.
