Section 2(4) in The United Provinces District Boards Primary Education Act, 1926
(4)"Primary education" means such instruction in reading, writing and arithmetic of such standard as may be prescribed for primary schools by the [State Government] [Substituted by the A.O. 1950 for (Provincial Government) which had been Substituted by the A.O. 1937 for (L.G.).] and such instruction in other subjects, if any, as may be determined by the board with the approval of the prescribed authority.
