(1)At an election at which a poll is to be taken each candidate or his election agent, if any, may appoint one agent and two relief agents, to act as polling agent of such candidate at each polling station or, where a polling station has more than one polling booth, at each such polling booth for the poll, as the case may be, and such appointment shall be made by a letter in writing and duplicate in Form VI signed by the candidate or his election agent, if any, under intimation to Election Officer atleast three days before the commencement of the poll.(2)The candidate or his election agent shall also deliver the duplicate copy of the letter of appointment to the polling agent who shall, on the date fixed for the poll, present the copy to, and sign the declaration contained therein before the presiding officer of the polling station where such polling agent is appointed for duty and the presiding officer shall thereafter retain it in his custody. No polling agent shall be allowed to perform any duty at the polling station or at the place fixed for the poll unless he has complied with the provisions of this sub-rule.
