Section 17 in The Bengal Muhammadan Marriages And Divorces Registration Act, 1876
17. Muhammadan Registrar to be subject to control of District Registrar. -
Every Muhammadan Registrar shall perform the duties of his office under the superintendence and control of the Registrar in whose district the office of such Muhammadan Registrar is situate.In the town of Calcutta every Muhammadan Registrar shall perform the duties of his office under the superintendence and control of the Inspector-General of Registration.Every Registrar, and in the town of Calcutta the Inspector-General of Registration, shall have authority to issue (whether on complaint or otherwise) any order consistent with this Act which he considers necessary in respect of any act or omission of any Muhammadan Registrar subordinate to him.
