SHRIMATI PRATYUSHA RAJESHWARI SINGH (KANDHAMAL): Madam Speaker, I thank you for giving me this opportunity to speak on one of the most crucial topics of drinking water supply.
Drinking water is one of the basic necessities of human-beings. The biggest problem faced by Kandhamal, my parliamentary constituency in Odisha, being a hilly area, is that bore-wells, tube-wells etc. are not efficient enough because of low water levels. PHD supply and overhead water banks are the only sources of drinking water.
Since the panchayats are given absolute powers, I would like to know through you, Madam, how the PWS scheme will be implemented effectively and whether the Ministry will provide sufficient allocations to cover hilly areas with piped water supply schemes.
