                                     ORDER

1. In this original application, the Tribunal is considering the grievance of illegal lopping of more than 250 trees and pollarding of more than 20 trees in various blocks of Paschim Vihar of West Delhi in February/March 2024.

2. By order dated 23.09.2024, the Tribunal had formed a joint committee wherein the District Magistrate, North Delhi was the nodal agency.

3. Learned Counsel appearing for CPCB submits that though the communications dated 14.10.2024, 07.12.2024, 02.01.2025 and 07.01.2025 were sent to the District Magistrate, North Delhi but he has not responded to these communications and has not taken any action in pursuance to the order of the Tribunal and has not fixed any site visit. 1

4. In terms of the order of the Tribunal dated 23.09.2024, the joint committee was required to complete the exercise within two months and submit the report immediately thereafter. The two-month period has expired. On account of the in-action by the District Magistrate, North Delhi, work of the joint committee has not yet commenced. Hence, we direct the District Magistrate, North Delhi to appear before the Tribunal on the next date of hearing and explain his conduct of not complying with the order of the Tribunal.
