Section 8(1) in The Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Pollution by Garbage From Ships) Rules, 2009
(1)During inspection of a foreign ship in Indian port under Section 356-G, the surveyor, or as the case may be, any other person authorised thereunder, has clear grounds to believe that the master or crew of that ship are not familiar with operational requirements and procedures relating to the prevention of pollution by sewage, the Director-General or any officer authorised by him, shall, on the recommendation of the surveyor or the authorised person, take such steps as provided in Section 356-H.
