Section 11(12) in THE COCHIN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACT, 1986
(12)Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Statutes and the Ordinances, the Vice-Chancellor shall have the power(a)to make appointments to posts below the rank of Assistant Registrar, and prescribe their duties;(b)to suspend, dismissor otherwise punish any employee of the University below the rank of Assistant Registrar;(c)to take disciplinary action against students of the University.Provided that he may delegate any of his powers under this sub-section to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor or the Registrar.
