764. Recommendations for special promotion. [§ 12, Act V, 1861].
(a)The Superintendent shall not make recommendations in official letters for special promotion of any officer subordinate to him save in accordance with these regulations or when ordered to do so by the officer empowered to make such promotion. If he desires to bring to notice the good work of any officer he shall do so demi-officially to the Deputy Inspector-General concerned or to the Inspector-General.(b)It is forbidden to apply directly or indirectly, for promotion.
