Section 5(2) in The Chennai City Corporation Building Rules, 1972
(2)Permission to the construction or reconstruction of or addition or alteration to, a building shall be withheld in cases, where the clearance between the building and the aerial lines is less than-(a)one and a half metres for low tension lines and one metre and eighty centimetres for high tension lines from accessible portions of buildings and one metre and twenty centimetres for both low tension and high tension lines in inaccessible portions measured horizontally;(b)four and a half metres from accessible portions of buildings and two and a half metres from inaccessible portions of buildings, measured vertically.
