Section 579(2) in The Calcutta Municipal Corporation Act, 1980
(2)Any Magistrate appointed under sub-section (1) shall be called Municipal Magistrate and shall, when functioning within the Presidency-town of Calcutta or within the limits of the Port of Calcutta, be deemed to be a Metropolitan Magistrate for the purposes of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
