Section 11 in The North Bengal University Act, 1981
11. The Registrar.
(1)The Registrar shall be a whole-time officer of the University. He shall be appointed by the Executive Council on the recommendation of a committee consisting of the Vice-Chancellor as Chairman, a nominee of the Chancellor, two nominees of the Executive Council and a nominee of the State Government.(2)The Registrar may resign his office by writing under his hand addressed to the Vice-Chancellor.(3)If the Registrar is for any reason temporarily unable to exercise the powers or perform the duties of his office, the Vice-Chancellor with the approval of the Executive Council may appoint a Teacher of the University or an officer of the University temporarily for a total period not exceeding six months to exercise the powers and perform the duties of the Registrar.
