Section 60(a) in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943
(a)A police officer of or above the rank of Inspector shall invariably record in the inspection register any visit to or call at a police-station and give a brief description of the particular work which he has done or is doing in its jurisdiction: he shall also enter in the Village Crime Note Book or other appropriate register any information of interest that has come to his knowledge and has not before been recorded.
