Section 10(1) in The Jadavpur University Act, 1981
(1)The Vice-Chancellor shall be the principal executive and academic officer of the University and shall, in the absence of the Chancellor, preside over the meeting of the Court. He shall, by virtue of his office, be a member and the Chairman of the Executive Council and the Faculty Councils for postgraduate and undergraduate studies and also the Chairman of any other authority or body of the University of which he may not be a member, but shall not be entitled to vote thereat.
