Section 5 in The Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya Act, 2000
5. Objectives of University.
- The University shall have the following objectives :-(1)to impart education in different branches of study in agriculture, horticulture, agricultural processing, engineering, terrestrial and aquatic sciences, forestry, tea science, agricultural engineering, home sciences, biotechnology, environment and other allied branches of learning and scholarship;(2)to further the advancement of learning and prosecution of research in agriculture, production system and allied sciences;(3)to undertake the extension education programme in the field of agriculture and allied sciences to the rural people of West Bengal;(4)to undertake the development of such sciences and the extension thereof to the rural people in co-operation with the concerned authorities or departments of the Government of West Bengal; and(5)such other purposes as the University may, from time to time, determine.
