Section 20(2) in The Punjab Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989
(2)Notwithstanding the provisions of sub-rule (1), the driver may upon a request in writing, by a registered medical practitioner allow a person suffering from an infectious or contagious disease to be carried in a transport vehicle:Provided that no other person save a person or persons in attendance on the sick person shall be carried in the transport vehicle at the same time.
