Digging of public land .-Whoever, without the permission in writing of the Chief Executive Officer, digs up the surface of any open space in the cantonment, which is not private property, shall be punishable with fine which may extend to two thousand five hundred rupees, and, in the case of a continuing offence, with an additional fine which may extend to five hundred rupees for every day after the first during which the offence continues.
