333. Representation of the Anglo-Indian community in the Legislative Assemblies of the States

Notwithstanding anything in article 170, the Governor of a State may, if he is of opinion that the Anglo-Indian community needs representation in the Legislative Assembly of the State and is not adequately represented therein, nominate one member of that community to the Assembly.[Editorial comment- The Constitution (Twenty-Three Amendment) Act, 1969, this amendment provides that the Governor may designate no more than one member of the Anglo-Indian community to serve in any State Legislative Assembly. There shall be no consequence on the representation of the Anglo-Indian community in the Legislative Assembly of any State that existed at the beginning of this act until such time as that Assembly is dissolved as a result of the application of the provisions of sub-section (1).Also refer ]
