Section 61 in The Calcutta Hackney-Carriage Act, 1919
61. Palanquins to be registered annually. -
Every palanquin plying for hire in Calcutta shall be registered annually by the officer appointed for registering hackney-carriages, at the time and in the manner provided by Chapter II with respect to the registration of hackney-carriages:Provided that the Registering Officer may refuse to register any palanquin, or may cancel or suspend for such period as he thinks fit, the registration thereof, whenever such palanquin appears to him to be unfit for public use.
