DR.K. KAMARAJ (KALLAKURICHI): Respected Chairman, Sir, I sincerely thank our hon. Chief Minister Amma for providing me an opportunity to represent the people of Kallakurichi constituency. I also thank the people of Kallakurichi constituency for overwhelmingly supporting the people welfare measures of our hon. Chief Minister and also electing me to this temple of democracy.
Chinnasalem railway station is an important station which caters to the needs of the commuters of Kallakurichi, Sankarapuram and Chinnasalem talukas, Kallakurichi municipality and Sankarapuram, Vadakkanandal, Chinnasalem and Thiyakadurgam town panchayats. Chinnasalem is listed by the railway administration as a temporary station and its status is extended every three months. Consequently, Express and Superfast trains are having stoppage at this station on temporary basis. It is extended after every three months. This is causing inconvenience to the general public.
I would request the Railway Minister to instruct the Railways to stop all the superfast and express trains at Chinnasalem railway station on a permanent basis. I would also request the Minister to continue advanced railway booking at the railway station for all the superfast and express trains passing through this station.
