SHRIMATI PRATYUSHA RAJESHWARI SINGH (KANDHAMAL): In Boudh district of Odisha State under my parliamentary Constituency, kandhamal, 65% of the gross cultivated area, is rain –fed and subjected to high risk in crop production due to erratic rainfall and extreme weather condition. The present plan is to enhance the irrigated Area of this district to 256% and subsequent increase to 21% over the existing irrigated area, within a period of five year i.e. (2016-17 to 2020-2021). In order to implement this plan, two important projects are needed like “Barrage of SATIGHAT” in Boudh District which will create additional irrigation potential of 10,000 hectares with an approximate cost of Rs. 40 crores and construction of Barrage over River Mahanadi on up-stream of Boudh town which will create additional irrigation potential to the tune of 5000 hectares with an estimated costs of Rs. 15 crores . The funds for the above two projects may be arranged by way of NABARD funding or any other source/agency of the Central Government.
