Section 1 in The Coal Bearing Areas (Acquisition And development) Act, 1957
1. Short title, extent and commencement.
(1)This Act may be called the Coal Bearing Areas (Acquisition and Development) Act, 1957.(2)It [extends] [The Act comes into force in Pondicherry an 1-10-1963 : vide Reg. 7 of 1963. s.3 and Sch. I. ] to the whole of India, except the State of Jammu and Kashmir.(3)It shall come into force on such [date] [12th June, 1957, see Notification No. S.R.O. 1931, dated 10th June, 1957, Gazette of India, Extra-ordinary, Pt. II, See. 3, p. 1967.] as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
