Background
1. The Applicant filed an RTI request dt.19.6.08 with the CPIO, BSNL, Almora.
He requested for information against 3 points. He wanted to know whether he was the subscriber to Telephone No.247433, whether he was being provided services as per rules and whether he was being provided with facilities which are associated with the landline. The APIO BSNL replied on 30.6.08 stating that the postal order along with the RTI application was not sent to the right person and returned the same to the Appellant. The Appellant sent another RTI request dated 14.8.08 along with the Postal order of Rs.10/-. On not receiving any reply, he filed a complaint dt.22.10.08 before CIC.
2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner, scheduled the hearing for February 18, 2009.
3. Both the Appellant and the Respondent were absent at the hearing.
Decision
4. The Commission directs the CPIO to show cause as to why a penalty of Rs.250/- per day should not be imposed on him for not replying within the mandatory period. The CPIO is also directed to provide the information within 20 days of the receipt of this Order.
5. The appeal is disposed off.
