*m01 SHRI MARGANI BHARAT (RAJAHMUNDRY): Mr. Speaker, Sir, thank you. Today, I would like to raise a very important issue regarding growing of plants. We have discussed the issue of pollution. In my constituency, in Kadiyam, we are having nurseries in an area of 11,500 hectares. We have been talking about pollution. NASA also has identified some five oxygen-releasing plants. So, why can the Government of India not distribute these kinds of plants throughout the country? That is one point.
We have been asking the scientists, particularly of the ICAR, to generate or identify new plants. We all know that Netherlands, Singapore and Thailand are also moving aggressively in producing new variety of plants. I would request the Minister of Agriculture to look into this matter seriously. As we are celebrating 74th year of our Independence, we have to take up this matter technically also. Not only in Kadiyam nurseries but also in other nurseries across the country, especially in Pune, Bengaluru and Mumbai, we can identify new varieties of plants if we employ new technologies. It is a good sign not only for the country but also for the rest of the world.
So, I want the Ministry of Agriculture to look into this matter very seriously.
