Section 12(7) in The Juvenile Justice (Punjab) Rules, 1987
(7)When an inmate of an institution dies therein, the property left by the deceased and the money deposited in his name shall be handed over by the Superintendent to any person who establishes his claim thereto and executes an indemnity bond. A receipt shall be obtained from such person for having received such property and the amount. If no claimant appears within a period of one year from the date of death of such inmate, the property and amount shall be handed over to the police for disposal in accordance with the provisions of sections 25 to 27 of the Police Act, 1861.
