JUDGMENT
The petitioner has obtained an MSc degree in Optometry and Vision Sciences (a 5-year integrated postgraduate course in Optometry) from the University of Hyderabad, a Central University, in the year 2017. The petitioner was appointed as Assistant Professor in Optometry in the 2nd respondent College on 01.04.2021. The petitioner has been promoted to Associate Professor. The University has issued a communication on 03.05.2025, whereby the College has been directed to seek an equivalency certificate for the postgraduate degree of the petitioner. The petitioner requested the University to consider her postgraduate degree in Optometry awarded by Hyderabad Central University as equivalent to the postgraduate degree of KUHS and issue an equivalency certificate. No decision has been taken by the University till date.

Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that the issue involved in this writ petition is covered by Ext.P8 judgment dated WP(C) NO. 24600 OF 2025 4 2025:KER:49678 17.06.2025 of this Court in W.P.(C) No.15672/2025 and the respondent University is obliged to issue equivalency certificate to the MSc Degree in Optometry and Vision Sciences obtained by the petitioner from the University of Hyderabad, a Central University.
3. Ms Helen Judy, learned Counsel appearing for the University, submits that the decision on the issuance of the equivalency certificate by Kerala University of Health Sciences shall be taken within two weeks.
4. Considering the stand of the respondent University, the present writ petition is disposed of with direction to the respondent University to take a decision on the issuance of equivalency certificate to the petitioner for her MSc in Optometry and Vision Sciences degree obtained from the University of Hyderabad (Central University) within two weeks, in accordance with the law. The petitioner should be afforded an opportunity for a hearing before a final decision by the Registrar.
