- In any room which steam pipes are used for the introduction of steam for the purpose of artificial humidification of the air, the following provisions shall apply-(a)The diameter of such pipes shall not exceed two inches and in the case of pipes installed after 1st day of January, 1949, the diameter shall not exceed one inch;(b)Such pipes shall be as short as is reasonably practicable;(c)All hangers supporting such pipes shall be separated from the bare pipes by an efficient insulator not less than half an inch in thickness:(d)No uncovered jet from such pipe shall project more than 4½ inches beyond the outer surface of any cover;(e)The steam pressure shall be as low as practicable and shall not exceed 70 lbs. per square inch;(f)The pipe employed for the introduction of steam into the air in a department shall be effectively covered with such non-conducting material, as may be approved by the Inspector in order to minimise the amount of heat radiated by them into the department.Rules prescribed under Sub-section (4) of Section 17
