                              ORDER

24.05.2022 Heard Mr. Shahbaz Sikander, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr. M. A. Chashoo, learned AAG, for the respondents.

The petitioner was granted licence No.1 of 2020 dated 5th February, 2020 to import and store petroleum Class 'B' products in quantity not exceeding 25000 litres under the Petroleum Act, 1934. The said licence of the petitioner, which was for a period of one year, expired on 31st December, 2020. The petitioner vide application dated 18 th November, 2020 addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, requested for renewal of the same but the application of the petitioner has not been considered.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner has applied for renewal of the licence in proper manner accompanied by all documents but even then the application has not been considered. He submits that on his application for renewal, necessary verification from the concerned departments have been obtained.

In view of the aforesaid facts and circumstances, without going into the merits of the case as to whether the petitioner is entitled for the aforesaid renewal, I dispose of the writ petition with the direction to the 3rd respondent-Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, to consider the application of the petitioner dated 18.11.2020 for renewal of his licence to import and store petroleum Class 'B' products in accordance with law, most expeditiously preferably within a period of three months from the date copy of this order is produced before him along with a copy of the application so filed by him on 18th November, 2020.

The writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of.
